Affinity Diagram

An affinity diagram helps groups to:

1. Make decisions
2. Solve problems
3. Create plans

Once the problem or question is agreed upon, participants write one thought per index card (sticky note) pertaining to the issue. As a group, the responses are shared for all to hear. The cards are grouped in clusters by similarities, repetitiveness, etc. All cards must fit into a cluster. This may mean that at times, new clusters or groups will be revealed. When all cards are categorized, the group will name each cluster. A visual should be created for each of the categories and drawn on the poster.
